REACH YOUR GOALS BY STRETCHING

Stretching has never been something that I’ve done regularly. I’ve heard about the many benefits of it but for some reason, I’ve never made it a habit.

I’ve heard that it’s even more important as we age.

I don’t know if you are doing much physical stretching, but what about mental, relational, spiritual, and financial?

So many people have set goals for 2018. I’m not sure how many you’ve set…

… but I don’t know how many have set goals that will require them to stretch themselves to attain them.

BEYOND YOUR COMFORT ZONE

Setting a goal that you can easily accomplish, does not require much effort. In my opinion, it shouldn’t have made it on your goals list.

I believe goals ought to take you outside your comfort zone. They ought to stretch you mentally, emotionally, spiritually, relationally, and sometimes physically.

You ought to grow as a result of what it took to accomplish your goal. You should be better off in the above areas mentioned as a result of accomplishing your goals.

I like what Tony Robbins said: “The purpose of a goal is not to get the goal but it’s about what we become to achieve it.”

IT’S THE PROCESS MORE THAN THE OUTCOME

Yes, it’s important to achieve your goal. In itself, it’s an accomplishment. But after you’ve achieved the goal, then what.

Some people become bored after they’ve accomplished their goals. They put all their energy and focus on getting there but didn’t have a plan for continued momentum.

A CASE AND POINT

I’ve heard that some of the astronauts whose goal it was to go to the outer space, once they achieved that, became bored with life and didn’t have much more to live for. Getting to outer space was their biggest dream. But once they accomplished that major goal, all other goals became insignificant.

I guess after one has gone to the moon, what else is there to do. How can you top that off?

You can IF you are more focused on what you are becoming in the process then sharing what you learned in the process with others. Having that in mind will far outdo your accomplishments.

You may not make it to the moon, neither will I. It’s not a goal of mine…

… but you can make it TO your goal if you decide that’s what you want to do and WILL DO!

As you do, remember that it’s not so much the goal but what you become in reaching there.

I want to help you do that.
