“When I get high, I train smarter and focus on form”, says elite triathlete Clifford Drusinsky. Clifford has won trophies at nine major triathlons, so he should know or should he?

marijuana for trainingHaving won these trophies and at 39 years of age, continue to train at very high levels, does this make him an expert on the topic of marijuana?

It’s hard to argue with someone who doesn’t seem to have any side effects yet from the consumption of marijuana for training purposes. He’s also helped others according to the article in Men’s Journal 12/2014, to train at optimum levels. Quoting from the article, Entrepreneur John Hunt states that he too has benefited from the usage of marijuana edibles for training purposes. He states that he “works out longer when he is high.”

Another person who agrees with Clifford and John, is Chad White who states that when he takes a little bit before training he is “totally dialed in.”

Can these guys be wrong? Do they represent a larger population who agrees with consuming marijuana as a way of pain and endurance tolerance?

Clifford who is a strong advocate for the use of marijuana edibles, warns against smoking it as a way of producing similar results. He says that smoking it can “trigger short-term irritations, as well as chronic bronchitis.” He recommends edibles that are not loaded with calories, sugar or have dairy products.

It’s important to note that research still holds that marijuana slows reaction time, encourages riskier decisions, and inhibits basic problem-solving skills. Research does show that the THC in marijuana may help with inflammation, sleep, and pain relief.

The question is, “Does the end justifies the means?” Does the benefits outweigh the risks?” Clifford and others thinks so.

What do you think?

I personally think it does not outweigh the risks. It still is a mind altering drug, which can lead to emotional disorders such as depression.
