Addressing the “elephant in the room” has to do with a broad variety of topics. It is one of those things that many people shun for various reasons as you will hear in this podcast episode.

According to Wikipedia, the term “elephant in the room” is a metaphor used to describe “an important or enormous topic, problem, or risk that is obvious or that everyone knows about but no one mentions or wants to discuss because it makes at least some of them uncomfortable or is personally, socially, or politically embarrassing, controversial, inflammatory, or dangerous.”

This definition captures the topic of toxicity in the workplace.

It’s one of those topics that is going unchecked or overlooked for one reason or another.

In this episode, I share 3 reasons why this conversation is not taking place and what needs to be done.

The “business as usual” approach to leadership training where the focus is more on organizational, time management, and leadership skills, is no longer sufficient.

The topic of detoxing a toxic work environment has to be a mandatory part of any leadership training. It has to be the priority or else it’s an exercise in futility; money down the drain. What are your thoughts on this?
