The words failure and entrepreneur tend to go hand in hand. It’s very rare that you find a successful entrepreneur who have not failed along the way … at least I have not yet encountered him or her.
The reason they are successful is because they refused to give up. They see failure as one more opportunity to learn what does not work.
Why is it then that some aspiring entrepreneurs, speakers and sales professional fail so early in their business venture?
According to an article written by Matt Mayberry in Entrepreneur Online, he cited three reasons that he gleaned from an interview with Gary Vaynerchuk.
Here are the reasons he gave:
1. No Faking It
2. Work Ethic
3. Watch The Puck
However, the reasons that I suggested below, helps to clarify their meaning. As you’ll see, the reasons listed are more in line with failures.
By the way, these are not the only reasons. There are a myriad of reasons, some of which you might have identified yourself. I would like to hear from you on what you have discovered. Leave a comment below.
Here then are the three reasons I put together. By the way, I also did a Podcast Episode on this very topic, which can be accessed here.
3 Reasons Entrepreneurs Fail At Business
1. Lacking Integrity
… this is simply projecting one self as an expert in an industry or on certain topics when in fact, they are posers. Posers are people who profess something they are not. You might have other names for them.
2. Poor Work Ethics
… because most aspiring entrepreneurs do not have anyone but themselves to report to, they do not hold themselves to a rigid schedule. Instead they take a fantasy approach, which doesn’t get them any closer to their entrepreneurial goal. They simply waste time.
3. Bad Timing
… Ice Hockey great – Wayne Gretzky was asked about his ability to score goals and become so successful. His response was that he moved to where the puck would be arriving.
He would anticipate the direction his team-mates would pass the ball and be there to receive it.
This is what entrepreneurs need to do – be where the action is. Some suggestions are conferences, masterminds, summits, etc. What other suggestions do you have?
What’s your thoughts on these reasons? What would you add or remove. I would love to hear such. Leave your comment below.
