GIVE THEM A REASON TO STAY
Victor Lipman, a Forbes contributing writer states in this article that “people leave managers, not companies.” I would agree with that argument based on the research that he cited as well as my own experience both as an employee and now as a leadership trainer. Reason to stay by Kingsley GrantBecause of the fact that people leave because of leadership, what can you do to stop that from happening as frequently as it does? I’ve seen some companies lose some of their best talents to their competition, not because of a better salary package, but simply because of leadership. Leaders simply did not give them a reason to stay. I’ve coached with some who have made the decision to leave for that very reason. Many research companies have cited acknowledgment and appreciation as one of the most important thing leaders can do for their people. What these researches have shown is that employees will give their best work to the company and be more loyal, when they are acknowledged. As a leader who wants to succeed where others failed, I would strongly suggest that you become intentional at finding ways to publicly acknowledging your people. Not only will they show up and give their best, but you indirectly will give them a reason to stay. LEADERSHIP TRAINING This is one of the areas covered in my Emotelligence Leadership Training.
